Instagram tests long-form video feature for creators in US and Brazil

Instagram is testing a new long-form video format with a small group of creators in Brazil and the United States. Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, announced the development on 26 October.
Videos under this new format can reach a maximum length of 90 minutes. By comparison, the platform currently limits Reels to a maximum of 20 minutes.
Meta retired its previous model for sharing ad revenue in 2024. The company currently spends more on its small performance-based program than it generates in returns.
Mosseri said, "We understand the economics matter a ton, and are exploring multiple options to help long-form creators get paid." The executive noted that adding mid-roll or pre-roll advertisements would be "going to be problematic from a user experience perspective."
