Pakistan seeks to expand EU market access via GSP+ framework

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister chaired an inter-ministerial meeting to discuss the national trade and export promotion agenda, according to a Foreign Office Spokesperson. Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar urged relevant ministries to keep the momentum high in facilitating trade and improving the quality of Pakistani goods.
The senator emphasised that the country must fully utilise the European Union's GSP+ framework to broaden market access and strengthen trade facilitation. A coordinated, whole-of-government approach was reaffirmed by Dar to drive the growth of exports.
Secretaries of Foreign Affairs, Commerce, and Human Rights participated in the session alongside Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Belgium and the EU also attended the meeting, which focused on promoting international trade.
Detailed discussions took place regarding environmental governance, labour rights, and human rights.
