Lancashire will not renew James Anderson's contract as his career ends

Lancashire will not renew the contract of James Anderson, marking the end of his professional career with the club. The county side finished in second bottom of Division Two in the County Championship last season.
Paul Farbrace, who moved from Sussex at the end of the season, decided to rebuild the Lancashire side. Richard Kenyon was recently appointed as chief executive to oversee the club's direction.
Anderson, who served as captain for Lancashire, took 50 wickets in the County Championship last season. Stuart Broad and James Anderson have a combined total of 1,039 Test wickets in 138 Tests.
Other counties are understood to be interested in signing Anderson. Lancashire did not comment officially until Sunday.
The club said they would look into arranging a farewell for Anderson at a meeting with members on Monday. Anderson's England career was cut short in 2024.
