Authorities move Noreen Niazi to cardiology institute from Lahore jail

Authorities transferred Noreen Niazi from Kot Lakhpat jail in Lahore to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology following reports of heart-related discomfort while she was in custody. Medical professionals began conducting initial tests on Niazi to assess her condition.
Niazi and Uzma Khan were arrested in Lahore on 21 September under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO), 1960. Aleema Khan was also taken into custody in Lahore under the same MPO ordinance.
The Punjab government extended the detention of all three sisters for an additional 30 days. Shahrez Khan filed a petition in the Lahore High Court to challenge the detention of the sisters.
The Lahore High Court disposed of the petition after reviewing a report from the Punjab home secretary. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) planned a long march to Islamabad on 27 September.
