Hasan Piker sues Scott Jennings over alleged defamation and misconstrued quotes

Hasan Piker filed a lawsuit against Scott Jennings, alleging that the commentator defamed him by misrepresenting a specific quote. Attorneys for Piker maintain that their client was actually mocking the argument of another individual during the exchange.
Piker issued a threat of litigation within two days of the initial comments being made. The fact-checking website Snopes eventually ruled in favour of Piker regarding the dispute.
Legal representatives for Piker submitted a formal demand for a retraction to Jennings on 31 August. The National Republican Senatorial Committee previously shared a mashup of Piker's clips intended to harm Abdul El-Sayed.
El-Sayed serves as the Democratic Senate nominee in Michigan.
