Religious scholars, spiritual leaders, and representatives of various faiths held a joint meeting at Jamia Salafia Dawat-ul-Haq on 28 October. Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi chaired the proceedings in his capacity as Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council and Coordinator of the National Paigham-e-Aman Committee.
Participants reaffirmed a consensus fatwa that prohibits suicide attacks, terrorism, extremism, and the killing of innocent people. The declaration stated that terrorism contradicts the fundamental teachings of Islam and all religions, while suicide attacks are forbidden in Islam.
Attendees endorsed the national narrative of Paigham-e-Pakistan and declared that killing innocent people is impermissible. Peace in Balochistan was identified as essential for sustainable peace across Pakistan.
The group pledged to continue joint efforts to promote religious tolerance, national unity, and inter-sectarian harmony, specifically focusing on peace in Balochistan. Commitments were made to address issues facing mosques and religious seminaries while strengthening cooperation with the government and relevant institutions.
A unanimous resolution paid tribute to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, who facilitated high-level talks among Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkiye, and Iran in Tehran on 26 October.
