Esmaeil Baghaei criticised remarks made by President Donald Trump regarding the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Trump admitted he never believed in the Islamabad MoU and viewed the agreement as a waste of time.
Baghaei stated, "Washington’s contempt for diplomacy is once again laid bare." The official added that for Iran, this situation is nothing new and there is absolutely no justification for whitewashing US misconduct.
The US military spent over 47 billion dollars to prosecute the war in Iran. This cost is more than 25% higher than the estimate provided by the Defence Department in July.
The Pentagon projected a cost of more than 29 billion dollars to replace expended munitions. Replacing military equipment and platform losses would require more than 6 billion dollars.
Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth estimated the cost of the war at 37.5 billion dollars in July. Donald Trump imposed a naval blockade on Iran following an April ceasefire.
The November 3 election will determine control of Congress for the next 2 years.
