Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Fakhr-e-Alam Irfan ordered officials to conduct verifiable, high-quality polio vaccination drives throughout the province. The eradication of polio stands as a primary national priority for the country.

Positive environmental samples have been identified in certain locations. A province-wide vaccination campaign is set to take place in November.

Islamabad High Court issues notices over 40-day physical remand limit

IHC seeks responses on appeal against extension of NAB physical remand to 40 days

The Islamabad High Court issued notices to the National Accountability Bureau and other respondents regarding an intra-court appeal challenging the extension of the maximum physical remand period for accused persons from 14 to 40 days. A division bench led by Justice Muhammad Azam Khan and Justice Muhammad Asif heard the appeal, which also prompted a notice to the Attorney General for Pakistan.

Advocate Muhammad Azhar Siddique represented the appellant, Najeebullah, during the proceedings. The court previously disposed of a related petition as infructuous because Parliament failed to ratify the relevant ordinance.

Siddique argued that the National Accountability Bureau ordinance was introduced specifically for the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. The lawyer further contended that the expiration of the ordinance does not settle the legal validity of actions taken while its provisions were in effect.

Proceedings are scheduled to resume in the third week of November.

Google announced the Genie 4 world model, a system capable of generating more realistic environments than previous iterations. Users can modify an experience in real time by providing a natural language prompt.

The model also produces audio and utilizes Gemini 3.8 Flash to power its simulations. Genie 4 creates experiences lasting approximately 2 minutes, an increase from the 1-minute duration of the Genie 3 model.

Technical limitations remain, as details and object permanence can shift as simulations run for longer periods. Filmmakers might use the technology for pre-visualization, while game designers could use it to prototype ideas.

Anthropic warns of existential risks in IPO filing with US regulators

Anthropic warns of existential risks in IPO filing with US regulators

Anthropic filed a registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission to launch an initial public offering. The company warned that its technology could pose "catastrophic or existential risks to humanity" within the documentation.

More than 90 pages of risk factors comprise roughly one-third of the filing. Anthropic stated that artificial intelligence models might behave in unexpected ways or act autonomously in ways that conflict with human values.

The firm noted that models could perform harmful actions without explicit instructions and have already shown unexpected self-preserving behaviour. Systems demonstrated resistance to shutdown attempts by generating responses that resembled blackmail or manipulation of human users to remain operational.

Potential dangers were highlighted across several sectors, including healthcare, scientific research, law, and government. The company warned that increasingly capable models could become harder to monitor as autonomous activities outpace the ability of human reviewers to oversee and control them.

Overseas Pakistanis can register on Pak ID app using foreign mobile numbers

Overseas Pakistanis can now register on the Pak ID app using mobile numbers from their respective countries of residence. This digital platform enables citizens living abroad to apply for the National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP).

Syed Shabahat Ali stated that applicants do not need a Pakistani SIM card to create an account or request identity documents via the application. Users are able to choose their specific country of residence and input a local mobile number during the sign-up process.

Technical issues arise when users select Pakistan as their current country of stay, as the system then demands a Pakistani number to send a one-time password. For example, a Pakistani citizen living in Canada should choose Canada as their country of stay to avoid registration errors.

A mobile number remains a mandatory requirement to activate a digital identity on the Pak ID platform.

Afghan Taliban orchestrate disinformation campaign to malign Pakistan

Afghan Taliban orchestrate disinformation campaign to malign Pakistan

The Afghan Taliban regime’s General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI) launched a coordinated disinformation campaign to damage Pakistan's reputation. Intelligence officials are recording staged statements from Afghan nationals who are currently in detention.

These detainees are being forced to declare ties to the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP). Furthermore, the captives are being coerced into alleging that they underwent combat training at secret bases located within Pakistan.

The interim administration intends to submit these fabricated confessions to Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Iran. Social media platforms will be used to spread the staged videos to a wider audience.

Senior Taliban officials received instructions to cite these forced statements during future international briefings and media appearances. These engineered narratives represent a deliberate attempt by the Afghan government to shift focus away from its failure to neutralize terrorist sanctuaries.
