Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC) has increased the price of all Sona Urea variants by Rs. 54 per bag. This move follows a Rs. 50 per bag price hike by Engro Fertilizers on November 6. According to market research reported by Topline Research on November 7, the new maximum retail price for Sona Urea Prilled is Rs. 4,579 per bag, while Sona Urea Granular now costs Rs. 4,803 per bag.
The price adjustment by Engro Fertilizers on November 6 brought its dealer transfer price to Rs. 4,585 per bag. JS Research reported that this follows a previous Rs. 150 per bag increase announced by Engro in March 2026. Engro has kept its pricing steady throughout the year. In August, the company's management stated it had no plans to cut prices or restore discounts despite having higher inventory levels, because the company expected seasonal demand to clear the stocks.
These price hikes occur as demand for urea in Pakistan expands. FFC’s third quarter corporate briefing showed that industry urea sales grew by approximately 5 percent to 4.403 million tons between January and September 2026, up from 4.205 million tons during the same period last year. FFC's own sales grew by 10 percent to 2.160 million tons, which raised its market share to 49 percent from 47 percent.
As of September 2026, FFC reported that the total industry urea inventory stood at 649,000 tons, with the company holding 88,000 tons of that amount. The manufacturer also noted that while farm returns for major crops improved during the 2025 to 2026 period, they remained below the levels seen from 2022 to 2023.
