Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has approved an extension for the party’s leadership in the United Kingdom. According to an official notification issued on November 8, 2026, the tenure of all existing office-bearers of the PML-N UK chapter has been extended until September 22, 2027.

The notification was issued by Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, who leads the party’s International Affairs and Overseas Pakistanis wing. DPM Dar stated his hope that the office-bearers would continue to work with diligence and unity for the benefit of Pakistan and the PML-N.

The extension includes UK President Ahsan Dar and Youth Wing President Khurram Butt. Ahsan Dar, a British-Pakistani businessman who operates a security firm in Britain, was first appointed to the presidency in October 2024 following a reorganization by Nawaz Sharif. He took over from Zubair Gull, who had led the party’s UK organisation for nearly two decades.

His role in overseeing the former prime minister’s security helped establish his position within the party’s overseas organisation. Since his appointment, Dar has focused on expanding regional structures and mobilizing supporters. In December 2024, he organized a gathering of nearly 1,000 supporters which was attended by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif.

Khurram Butt, the Youth Wing president, has been involved in political campaigning, youth mobilization, and activities regarding the security of the Sharif family in London. Butt previously reported alleged threats against the family to the Metropolitan Police and campaigned against Imran Khan’s bid to become chancellor of Oxford University.

In a statement, Ahsan Dar thanked Nawaz Sharif and DPM Dar for their trust. He said: “We are deeply grateful to our leader Mian Nawaz Sharif and Senator Ishaq Dar for reposing their trust in us and extending our tenure. We remain committed to strengthening PML-N across the United Kingdom, uniting party workers and serving the Pakistani community. We will continue working with renewed dedication to promote the vision and leadership of Nawaz Sharif.”
