Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi called for a transition toward peace, prosperity, and development in his province on Sunday. Speaking at the closing and prize distribution ceremony of the 2nd Pakistan Tourism, Sports and Family Festival 2026 at the Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad, Kundi stated that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have made significant sacrifices during years of unrest and terrorism.
Kundi told the audience that the era of carrying coffins is over and that the province now deserves a bright future. He emphasized that the priority must shift toward prosperity and development.
The governor highlighted the talent and energy of the province's youth, noting they could play a vital role in the progress of both the country and the province. He expressed regret that young people were previously pushed toward protest politics and sit-ins rather than being encouraged to engage in healthy activities. Kundi argued that providing opportunities for youth to use their professional skills and creativity could strengthen the economy and bring about social progress.
To achieve this, Kundi stressed the need for more opportunities in sports, tourism, and other fields. He specifically requested that Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Tourism and National Coordinator, organize similar festivals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the future. Kundi noted that the province is known for its hospitality and natural beauty, and such festivals could promote its culture while providing a positive image to attract tourists.
Kundi praised the organizers for the event, stating that such activities promote national unity and cultural diversity. He assured that the government would provide every possible support and encouragement to the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to help them contribute to national development.
During the ceremony, Kundi distributed awards, shields, and appreciation certificates to participants and organizers. The event was attended by Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, other dignitaries, and people from various walks of life.
