The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has extended its free scooty training program for women until November 30. The decision was made following an overwhelming response from women in the city, which made it difficult to fit all incoming admissions into three daily shifts.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Kainat Azhar Khan announced that the program has been divided into two phases to accommodate the growing interest. The first phase is scheduled to run from November 1 to 15, while the second phase will be held from November 16 to 30.

According to Khan, women who were unable to secure a place in the first phase or who cannot be accommodated if capacity is reached can now join the second phase to learn to ride a scooty free of cost. Khan stated that the ITP is committed to empowering women by providing opportunities to develop practical riding skills and improve their mobility.

The CTO noted that the decision to extend the program was taken in view of the encouraging response from women seeking to learn scooty riding. She added that similar initiatives would continue in the future to encourage greater participation of women in safe and independent travel. “Our commitment is to empower women,” Khan said.
