Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has removed Jhelum Deputy Commissioner Mir Reza Ozgen from his post with immediate effect. The dismissal follows Ozgen's recommendation to postpone Intermediate Second Annual Examinations for Computer Science, which were originally set for November 10.

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi deferred the papers until November 30 based on Ozgen's recommendation. Ozgen wrote to the board stating that because of the deployment of security and administrative personnel for the Chief Minister's expected visit to Jhelum and Pind Dadan Khan, "it is not feasible to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted conduct of the said examination in the district." He requested the rescheduling to avoid "any inconvenience to students and ensure the smooth conduct of both the examination and the VVIP visit."

In a post on X, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stated that the incident was a "clear disregard" for her directions. She noted she had given "explicit instructions that no inconvenience or disruption whatsoever should be caused to the public during my visits to the districts," specifically mentioning that students should not face disruption.

The Chief Minister shared a notification confirming the transfer of the BS-19 officer, Ozgen, directing him to report to the Punjab Services and General Administration Department for further instructions.

Following the removal of the DC, Maryam Nawaz announced that the examinations would proceed as originally planned on November 10. She stated on X, "Notwithstanding any acts of foolishness or misplaced over-smartness on the part of the district administration, the examinations shall be held strictly in accordance with the original schedule, i.e. Tuesday, 10th November."
