The Common Management Unit (CMU), operating under the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, has revived its landmark nationwide campaign to strengthen HIV awareness, prevention, testing, and treatment.
The initiative is being carried out in coordination with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Pakistan and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), with support from various national and international health partners.
Originally launched in 2022, the campaign seeks to encourage open and informed discussions regarding HIV while improving access to treatment and prevention services. It also aims to address the discrimination and stigma faced by people living with the virus.
The renewed effort focuses on raising public awareness, promoting early diagnosis through testing, improving treatment access, and highlighting the voices and experiences of those affected by the disease.
Key partners supporting the national HIV response include the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the Association of People Living with HIV-Pakistan.
The CMU acknowledged the ongoing commitment of community organizations, development partners, government institutions, and UN agencies in advancing prevention across the country. The unit emphasized that an effective and inclusive response to HIV in Pakistan requires collective action, accessible healthcare, and a stigma-free environment.
