Creative Artists Agency has signed Alex Cooper, Matt Kaplan, and their media and entertainment company Unwell for representation. The move follows discussions that have been ongoing for weeks.
CAA will work with the duo to expand the business of Unwell while supporting the development of original intellectual property and growth. Unwell, which was founded in 2023, is a media and entertainment company focused on Gen Z women. The company was built on the success of Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast.
In August, Unwell announced it had accepted a strategic investment from WTSL, an investment firm owned by Patrick Whitesell. This investment valued the company at $500 million.
To manage the company's growth, Cooper and Kaplan have added several seasoned executives to the leadership team over the past year to work alongside Chief Marketing Officer T.J. Marchetti. These additions include:
Joanne Bradford, a media and technology veteran, as President;
Samir Sama, a former NFL and Raine Group executive, as Head of Ventures and Corporate Development;
Mina Lefevre, a previous Meta and Disney executive, as Chief Content Officer and Head of Television;
Lagen Nash, a former Misfits Gaming and Fox Networks Group executive, as Executive Vice President of Revenue;
Olivia Owen, a former CAA agent, as Head of Talent.
The Unwell Network has launched seven new programs in 2026. Its YouTube programming includes two reality competition series: “Unwell Winter Games” and “Unwell Summer Games.” The company's current slate includes a “Hannah Montana” anniversary special for Disney+, the Netflix property “Let’s Marry Harry,” and Hulu’s “Call Her Alexc” documentary. Upcoming projects include an adaptation of the novel “Deep End” and Netflix’s adaptation of the novel “Icebreaker.”
