WhatsApp has announced new Events features that allow users to invite people who do not have a WhatsApp account. The update, which WhatsApp announced on November 5, makes it possible to organize gatherings without requiring every guest to install or register for the messaging app.

Users can now create an event, add a cover photo, and generate a shareable invitation link to be sent outside the platform. Recipients can open these links in a web browser to view details and confirm their attendance. To protect privacy, WhatsApp stated that organizers' phone numbers will not be visible to unknown guests, and guests without accounts will only see the event address after they submit an RSVP.

The company is also introducing an Events Home section as a central hub for managing gatherings. This area allows users to create customized invitations, track responses, and manage upcoming events without searching through individual chats. The section will display both past and upcoming events, including those created by the user and those received from others.

New tools within the Events Home include the ability to set custom reminders and a "plus-one" option that allows guests to bring an additional person.

WhatsApp stated that the updated features are already rolling out to users, though the rollout is gradual. The company expects the update to be available to everyone over the coming weeks.
