Unitree Robotics and Star Plus Legend have launched the UNI-DOGGIE, a collectible consumer robot dog priced at 43,900 yuan. The product debuted on November 6 at the ninth China International Import Expo in Shanghai. According to Jiemian News via Sina and IT Home, the companies have stated a worldwide limit of 2,000 units for the robot.

The partners describe the machine as a combination of a quadruped robot, character-based design, and a collectible consumer product. The companies identify it as Unitree's first consumer collectible robot dog. Unlike industrial robots designed for payload transport or inspection, the launch materials for UNI-DOGGIE emphasize social use, interaction, and companionship.

The robot measures 72 by 37 by 71 centimeters while standing and weighs approximately 19 kilograms. Its movement system utilizes 12 aluminum-alloy joint motors, which the companies state can reach a maximum speed of two meters per second. Supplier specifications, which have not been independently tested, list the robot's ability to navigate steps up to 16 centimeters, slopes up to 40 degrees, and surfaces including floors, carpets, shallow grass, and tiles.

The UNI-DOGGIE features an interaction repertoire that includes dancing, running, jumping, handstands, a lion-dance gait, handshakes, and heart-shaped gestures. A camera located in the nose allows for photos and video while the robot accompanies a user. Additional advertised features include an automatic following system without a leash, app-based remote control over 4G, and over-the-air software updates.

Proposed uses for the robot range from parent-child interaction and family companionship to branded performances and collectible gatherings. While the launch reports state that distributor ADATA has purchased 1,000 units, this represents half of the announced limited run and does not constitute 1,000 verified sales to individual consumers. The published launch information does not establish how reliably the robot performs these activities in everyday homes.
