Pakistani users can now access a limited library of audiobooks on the Spotify streaming platform following a rollout this week. The service provides access to over 100,000 titles from Spotify's global English catalogue for both free and premium users.
According to a press release shared by Spotify, users must purchase a monthly allowance of 15 audiobook hours as an add-on subscription for Rs489. If a user exhausts these hours faster than expected, they can purchase an additional 10-hour top-up for Rs579 more. Spotify stated that only the time spent actively listening counts toward the monthly allowance, which resets every billing cycle.
Users have the option to purchase individual titles if they prefer to own an audiobook rather than renting it through the monthly subscription. The service includes features such as automatic bookmarking, a sleep timer, and a Page Match feature to switch between print or e-books and audio versions. Additionally, users can download audiobooks for offline listening and sync their progress across different devices.
Spotify stated that the launch is part of a plan for global expansion, aiming to reach 180 markets worldwide. The platform intends to provide over 780 million people with the ability to stream or purchase audiobooks.
