Huawei is reportedly preparing to launch a new smartphone sub-brand called Osta, which will debut with two flagship-level phones. According to Chinese tipsters Digital Chat Station and Fixed Focus Digital, the brand will launch with the Osta O1 and Osta O1 Pro. The company is also expected to use the Osta name on the phones’ retail packaging.

While earlier reports suggested Huawei was developing a sub-brand called Xingmang, which translates to Starlight or Starburst, the latest leaks indicate that Osta will be its official English name.

The two smartphones will reportedly feature noticeably different designs. The standard Osta O1 is expected to have a display curved on all four sides and a large circular camera module on the back. In contrast, the Osta O1 Pro will reportedly adopt a wider design with narrow bezels on all four sides and a horizontal camera strip on the rear.

The Osta O1 Pro is tipped to feature a 6.39-inch flat LTPS display with 1.5K resolution and an unusual 16:9.5 aspect ratio. This would make the phone wider than conventional smartphones, with a design similar to Huawei’s Pura X View.

According to the leak, the Osta O1 Pro will be available in four memory configurations: 12GB RAM + 256GB storage, 12GB RAM + 512GB storage, 16GB RAM + 512GB storage, and 16GB RAM + 1TB storage. A leaked image of the phone’s retail packaging also reportedly confirms the Osta O1 Pro name and a configuration featuring 16GB RAM and 1TB storage.

The first Osta smartphones are expected to offer specifications and pricing comparable to Huawei’s flagship devices. This represents a change from earlier rumors suggesting that Xingmang would focus on mid-range smartphones powered by Kirin 8-series chipsets. The higher pricing could be partly related to rising memory costs across the smartphone industry.

The Osta O1 Pro’s wider display has raised questions about whether Huawei plans to move this smartphone design exclusively to its new sub-brand. However, one of the tipsters clarified that Huawei will continue offering wide-screen smartphones under its main brand, meaning Osta will not replace Huawei’s existing wide-screen smartphone lineup.

Huawei has not officially announced the Osta brand or confirmed the specifications, pricing, and launch dates of the Osta O1 and O1 Pro. For now, the details remain based on leaks, although recent trademark filings and images of alleged retail packaging suggest that preparations for the new brand are underway.
