Paris Saint-Germain secured their 11th consecutive victory in all competitions on Saturday with an unspectacular 1-0 win over Troyes in Ligue 1. Ukraine defender Illia Zabarnyi scored the only goal of the match in the 39th minute at the Parc des Princes, heading in a cross from Senny Mayulu following a quickly-taken Desire Doue corner.
The victory came despite a depleted PSG squad. The club was without Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembele, Nuno Mendes, Maghnes Akliouche, and captain Marquinhos due to injuries. Additionally, Achraf Hakimi was rested and Joao Neves began the match as a substitute.
The win marks PSG's longest run of consecutive victories since Luis Enrique took over in 2023. The team has now won seven consecutive Ligue 1 matches and holds a three-point lead over second-placed Paris FC. This follows a 6-0 Champions League win against Villarreal in the midweek.
Luis Enrique described the winning streak as "so difficult and rare to achieve," noting that "Football is always a really hard game to control." However, he stated he was "happier to have won the eight games since the last international break than the 11 in a row overall." He added that the team will "try to keep doing the same thing" once players return from international duty.
While the expectation was for a more emphatic win, Ferran Torres failed to score during several promising openings. Torres has now gone eight games without a goal, having scored seven times in his first six appearances for the club. Enrique stated there is "no need to be worried for him" and that "It’s normal," emphasizing that what matters is that attacking players "keep getting chances."
During the match, Troyes saw Renaud Ripart miss a significant chance, and Lucas Maronnier had a late effort ruled out for offside. PSG fans set off fireworks at one point during the second half.
In other Ligue 1 action on Saturday, Paris FC defeated Auxerre 1-0 away. The winning goal was scored in the second half by Lassine Sinayoko, who turned an assist from Pablo Pagis. Sinayoko, 26, is currently the top scorer in Ligue 1 with nine goals in 10 games. Pagis was called up to the France squad for the first time by new coach Zinedine Zidane on Friday.
PSG is scheduled to play Nice away in a fortnight, followed by a Champions League match against AS Roma. Meanwhile, Lille and Olympique Lyonnais remain within striking distance of the top two spots before their matches on Sunday. On Sunday, Lens will host Olympique de Marseille, looking to recover from a record-equalling 9-1 Champions League loss to Como on Wednesday.
