Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Engineer Ameer Muqam stated on Friday that thousands of people took to the streets to celebrate the end of the PTI government. Speaking at a public gathering in Haripur, Muqam said the public rejected the party's false narrative and reaffirmed their support for peace.
Muqam told the gathering that the world witnessed the armed forces inflict a humiliating defeat on the enemy during Maraka Haq. He thanked the people for their participation, noting that thousands arrived despite receiving only one day’s notice. The minister claimed that people remained frustrated during the PTI government and celebrated its ouster in Peshawar, Swat, Battagram, and Shangla.
The federal minister alleged that the PTI failed to address basic problems or develop the province during its nearly 13 and a half years in power. He further stated that during the party's four-year tenure at the Centre, it pushed the country into economic and political difficulties. Muqam said the massive gathering sent a message that people are fed up with politics of confrontation, protests, long marches, and personal interests. He suggested that instead of dreaming of returning to power, the PTI leadership should prepare to account for its performance and explain the utilisation of public resources.
Muqam paid tribute to the Pakistan Army, stating they guard the borders and stand with the nation during earthquakes, floods, and the war against terrorism. Regarding recent Pakistan-India tensions, he said the armed forces responded courageously and professionally to an enemy many times larger in size, demonstrating Pakistan’s defence capabilities and national unity.
He stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan achieved successes on defence, diplomatic, and economic fronts. Muqam claimed effective measures were taken to stabilise the national economy, restore international confidence, promote investment, and strengthen foreign relations. He added that efforts were made to improve Pakistan’s international image and the prestige of the Green Passport.
