A Brief History of Nawaz Sharif

Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was born on December 25, 1949, in Lahore. He belongs to a well-known business family and has served as the Prime Minister of Pakistan three times. He began his political career in the 1980s and became the Chief Minister of Punjab in 1985. In 1990, he was elected as the Prime Minister for the first time but had to resign in 1993.

In 1997, he was re-elected as Prime Minister, but in 1999, a military coup led by General Pervez Musharraf resulted in his exile. After returning to Pakistan in 2007, he was elected Prime Minister for the third time in 2013. However, in 2017, he was disqualified due to the Panama Papers case.

Nawaz Sharif’s political journey has been full of ups and downs. His party, Pakistan Muslim League (N), has remained a major political force in the country. In 2024, he is making efforts to become Prime Minister for the fourth time. His politics have focused on economic growth, development projects, and public welfare.
