
Punjab Assembly: 26 PTI members suspended, Speaker announces to send reference
LAHORE: The Speaker Punjab Assembly has suspended 26 members of the opposition for 15 sessions and announced to send references against them.
According to the Speaker Punjab Assembly, action has been taken against 26 members of the opposition for rioting, chanting slogans, intimidation and tearing documents.
The suspended members include Malik Fahad Masood, Muhammad Tanveer Aslam, Syed Rifat Mehmood, Yasir Mehmood Qureshi, Kaleemullah Khan, Muhammad Ansar Iqbal, Ali Asif, Zulfiqar Ali, Ahmed Mujtaba Chaudhry, Shahid Javed, Muhammad Ismail, Khayal Ahmed, Shahbaz Ahmed, Tayeb Rashid, Imtazali, Rashid Imtazi, Rashmood, Mehmood. Tufail, Rai Muhammad Murtaza, Khalid Zubair Nasar, Chaudhry Muhammad Ejaz Shafi, Saima Kanwal, Muhammad Naeem, Sajjad Ahmed, Rana Aurangzeb, Shoaib Amir and Osama Asghar are also present.
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Ahmed Khan announced to send a reference against 26 PTI members and said he would send the reference to the Election Commission today.
The dignity and order of the House will be maintained at all costs, he said, adding that the right to protest is recognized but its limits are subject to the Constitution, law and rules. The system will be protected from being held hostage. It is my responsibility to keep the dignity of the House first. If a member does not recognize the Rules, it is my responsibility to prevent him from entering the House. It cannot be that you pick up books and start throwing them at the members.
