The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad Zone has arrested a woman allegedly involved in a Rs 5.2 million UK work visa fraud. The investigation, conducted by the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Rawalpindi, resulted in the recovery of Rs 2 million.
According to an FIA official, the arrest was made in connection with FIR No. 285/2026. The case began following a complaint regarding fraudulent promises made to arrange a UK work visa. The complainant alleged that the woman received a total of Rs 5.2 million in various payments based on the promise of sending him to the United Kingdom.
During the initial investigation, it emerged that the accused allegedly gave the complainant a fake International English Language Testing System (IELTS) certificate in exchange for a payment of Rs 1 million. The official stated that the woman later allegedly promised to secure a UK visa through marriage, providing a fake marriage registration certificate and an agreement on e-stamp paper. Another accused person reportedly acted as a guarantor in that agreement.
When the complainant requested his money back, the accused allegedly refused to return the funds and threatened him.
The official confirmed that Rs 2 million was recovered from the arrested woman. Efforts are currently underway to recover the remaining balance and identify other potential suspects. Inspector Iqra Jahangir is investigating the case, and the FIA Islamabad Zone stated it will continue to take action against those involved in visa fraud and human smuggling.
