Pakistan clears Rs13.323 billion solar scheme for merged districts

The federal government moved forward with a Rs13.323 billion solar energy project to provide off-grid electricity to households in the newly merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal chaired the meeting where the solar initiative was one of 14 development projects evaluated.
A total of Rs226.48 billion was the combined estimated cost for all projects reviewed by the committee. The solar scheme represents one of three primary development projects for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa included in the latest infrastructure plans.
The CDWP referred the proposal to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final approval before the project can move to the next stage.
