Major General Hafeez Ur warns of constant cyberattacks on Pakistan

Major General Hafeez Ur Rehman, Chairman, stated on 29 October that cyberattacks are occurring around the clock in Pakistan. The country faces a surge of fraudulent one-time password messages, suspicious phone calls, and thousands of fake videos circulating online.
Rehman noted that the telecom sector remains susceptible to digital threats as the expansion of digital services creates new concerns for individuals, businesses, and government institutions. The Federal Investigation Agency is currently handling these cases while institutions such as the PTA, NADRA, and PEMRA work to harden their systems against attacks.
Rehman advised the public not to forward unverified information that might spread misinformation or lead others into fraud. Strengthening policies and increasing public awareness are necessary to safeguard the nation's digital infrastructure.
