Jazz emerged as a leading performer in network speed, voice call consistency, and overall user experience during a comparative Quality of Experience (QoE) survey conducted by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Thursday. The survey, which took place across Islamabad and Rawalpindi, assessed improvements in mobile network performance through simultaneous testing along major routes.
The exercise was led by PTA Chairman Major General (Retd.) Hafeez Ur Rehman. It was attended by PTA Member (Finance) Muhammad Naveed, Member (Compliance and Enforcement) Dr. Khawar Siddique Khokhar, Member (Telecom) Muhammad Jahanzeb Rahim, Director General (Enforcement) Brigadier (Retd.) Amir Shehzad, and other senior officials. Representatives from the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT), mobile network operators, and the media also took part.
Three dedicated teams conducted parallel assessments along designated routes. These routes included the New Islamabad International Airport, T-Chowk, Murree Road via Faizabad, Rawal Road, the old airport area, Srinagar Highway, Constitution Avenue, Club Road, and other connecting corridors. During the exercise, media representatives and officials used mobile data and made live voice calls to assess performance under everyday conditions, focusing on download speeds, voice call stability, data connectivity, and service consistency while moving between locations. Intercity calls were also conducted to evaluate voice connectivity and continuity.
The PTA stated that initial results demonstrated excellent performance, reflecting improvements in the quality and reliability of telecom services across the surveyed areas. The regulator noted the exercise was intended to assess actual consumer experience while identifying potential service gaps requiring further improvement.
Jazz’s strong performance is attributed to continued investments in 4G network upgrades, expanding 5G coverage, and optimized spectrum utilization. Specifically, the deployment of the 700 MHz spectrum band contributed to improved network performance by supporting wider coverage and stronger indoor connectivity compared with higher-frequency bands. Jazz was the only operator to acquire spectrum in the 700 MHz band during Pakistan’s latest spectrum auction.
The company has also accelerated its 5G rollout, with 1,237 sites now operational nationwide. These include 126 sites in Islamabad and 64 in Rawalpindi, alongside deployments in Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar, and other cities.
Thursday’s exercise followed a shorter network performance survey conducted on Saturday, October 31, by PTA’s Director General (Enforcement), Brigadier (Retd.) Amer Shahzad. The PTA continues to monitor improvements following recent network upgrades, optimization activities, and efficient utilization of spectrum. The regulator reiterated its commitment to regular field monitoring, evidence-based assessments, and coordination with telecom operators to ensure sustained improvements in service quality and reliable connectivity for consumers.
