Bayern Munich announced on Thursday that Harry Kane has signed a two-year contract extension, ensuring the Ballon d'Or winner remains with the club until 2029. The 33-year-old England captain, who moved to the German champions from Tottenham in 2023, has recorded 156 goals in 161 appearances across all competitions since his arrival.

In a personal statement, Kane said he feels "right at home" at FC Bayern, stating, "I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich. We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager." He added that being part of the club makes him very proud and noted that his "whole family is very happy here." Kane expressed that he was keen to stay and is looking forward to the future.

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund said the club was "absolutely delighted" to extend the deal. Freund described Kane as the Ballon d'Or winner on the pitch, calling him a team player, a leader, and the best all-round striker in the world, adding that the club benefits from his qualities as a player and a person "day in, day out."

German media reported that Bayern and Kane were in negotiations regarding the extension since August, with the duration of the deal serving as the primary sticking point. While Premier League sides may have hoped to lure him back to England, Kane told FourFourTwo magazine in August that his desire to return to the Premier League had waned. He told the magazine, "When I first left, for sure it was something that I thought I'd definitely be coming back. That itch isn't there as much anymore." He further stated that being in Munich has opened his eyes to a different world of football and made him appreciate European football more, concluding that he is concentrating on Bayern Munich for now.

Kane achieved significant success since joining the club, winning two Bundesliga titles and one German Cup. Although the Champions League has remained elusive, the team reached the semi-finals twice in three campaigns. Last season, Kane scored 61 goals for Bayern and 12 for England, totaling 73 goals—a mark bettered only once this century by Lionel Messi in 2011-12.

In September, Kane became the fastest player in German history to reach 100 Bundesliga goals, reaching the milestone in 98 games and breaking Dieter Mueller's 1977 record by 31 games. Last month, Kane won the men's player of the year at the Ballon d'Or ceremony in London, becoming the first Englishman to do so since Michael Owen in 2001 and the first Bayern player since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 1981. During his acceptance speech, Kane praised his teammates, saying, "Without you guys (his Bayern Munich team-mates) and the rest of the team it wouldn't be possible, the way you guys push me, the way we compete. So thank you very much."

Bayern won the league and cup double last season after a 6-5 aggregate semi-final loss to Paris Saint-Germain. Currently, Bayern are the only undefeated club in Europe's top five leagues, sitting atop the Bundesliga table ahead of Dortmund on goal difference and occupying 13th place in the Champions League table after four of eight league phase matches.
