Stray Kids and BTS boycott 2027 Grammys over new Asian pop category

Stray Kids and BTS are boycotting the 2027 Grammy Awards following the introduction of a controversial new category for Asian pop music. The Recording Academy announced this new category in June.
The Asian pop award mandates that nominated songs must demonstrate "meaningful use" of an Asian language. BTS announced they would not submit any songs for consideration in any category during July.
JYP stated that Stray Kids did not submit entries for the Grammys. Kim Hong-joon, leader of Ateez, expressed agreement with the position taken by BTS.
Harvey Mason Jr. confirmed that the new Asian pop category will proceed at the 2027 ceremony. Regarding the situation, Hwang Hyun-jin stated that the top priority is for fans to be happy and satisfied.
