Dafne Keen revealed on the “Inside of You” podcast that she was offered cocaine at Hollywood wrap parties when she was a young teenager. Speaking with host Michael Rosenbaum, the 21-year-old actress noted that she was being offered the drug when she was "tiny," specifically between the ages of 11, 12, and 13.
Keen stated that because she witnessed so much drug use as a child actor, she had "no interest" in it and was "saying no, fortunately." She explained that she continues to avoid drugs and alcohol as an adult because she "don’t really need it." Keen shared that she often stays out "til 6" sober to enjoy music and dancing, admitting she used to lie as a teenager to avoid peer pressure by claiming she had "already took something" while remaining "dead sober."
Keen first gained her breakthrough in the industry in 2017’s “Logan,” where she played the young mutant Laura/X-23 opposite Hugh Jackman. She filmed the movie at age 11, and the film premiered a few months after her 12th birthday.
Keen remembered her co-star Hugh Jackman as "the best number one you could ever wish for" and "the best on-screen dad." She described him as a "parental figure" who provided "positive reinforcement" and "good advice." According to Keen, Jackman "made sure that no one was abusing my hours, that I was having fun on set, that I wasn’t aware of any tensions that would’ve been happening behind the scenes," adding that he was "incredibly protective and amazing."
Following her role in “Logan,” Keen starred in the three-season HBO and BBC One adaptation of “His Dark Materials.” Her subsequent work includes a role in the “Star Wars” series “The Acolyte” and a role as Artemis in the third season of “Percy Jackson and the Olympics.” She also reprised her role as X-23 in “Deadpool and Wolverine.”
