Amazon MGM Studios has appointed Jenny Groom as the head of MGM Alternative. Groom will report directly to Jenn Levy, the head of nonfiction at Amazon MGM Studios, who shared the news in a memo to staff on Wednesday.

In the memo, Levy stated that Groom will be responsible for overseeing MGM titles such as “Survivor,” “Shark Tank,” and “The Voice.” Additionally, Groom will develop new series and formats for third-party outlets and the Prime Video slate. Levy noted that Groom’s experience on both the "buying and selling side of the business" makes MGM Alternative a "key creative asset" for the company's unscripted goals.

Groom joins the company after serving as executive VP of unscripted development at BBC Studios, a role she took on last year. During her time at BBC Studios, she developed Fox’s “Nation’s Dumbest” and ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro.”

Prior to her time at BBC Studios, Groom was the executive VP of unscripted programming at NBCUniversal. In that role, she oversaw formats including “The Traitors” and “Love Island,” and managed a portfolio that included “The Voice,” “America’s Got Talent,” “American Ninja Warrior,” “The Wall” with Keke Palmer, “Baking It” with Amy Poehler, and “That’s My Jam” with Jimmy Fallon. She also worked closely with talent such as Kelly Clarkson, Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Ariana Grande, Blake Shelton, and John Legend.

Groom’s career also includes consulting for Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat Productions and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine. She is currently an executive producer on Netflix’s “Funny AF with Kevin Hart,” which is returning for a second season.

Groom is scheduled to begin her new role at Amazon MGM Studios after Thanksgiving on Monday, 11/30.
