Islamabad High Court upholds stay on demolition of D-12 graveyard

The Islamabad High Court upheld a stay order against the demolition of a graveyard situated in Mouza Seri Saral, Sector D-12. Justice Muhammad Azam Khan warned that any violation of the court's directive would trigger immediate contempt proceedings and potential imprisonment.
The judge stated, "Inform everyone that if the order is violated, I will send them to jail." A full six-month sentence for contempt would be awarded if the stay is breached, Justice Muhammad Azam Khan added.
Counsel for the petitioner claimed that officials arrived to conduct the demolition operation on the previous day despite the existing stay order. The Capital Development Authority and other respondents failed to file their responses during the proceedings.
Justice Muhammad Azam Khan granted the involved parties additional time to submit their replies to the court.
