Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan addressed the Belt and Road International Industry-Education Cooperation Forum in Beijing on 29 October.
The official urged for enhanced cooperation between Pakistan and China regarding technical training, skills development, and vocational education to increase jobs for young people. He stated that Pakistan intends to establish practical partnerships with Chinese industries and educational bodies through joint curriculum development, teacher training, and industry-linked education.
Khan argued that education must move beyond traditional classrooms to address technological advances and changing industrial requirements. Youth development is a priority for the government led by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, according to the speaker. The Prime Minister’s Youth Programme focuses on four pillars—Education, Employment, Engagement, and Environment—with a specific focus on the National Youth Employment Policy.
A Chinese Secretariat for the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme was set up at the TANG International Education Group in June 2026. Khan also called for an inclusive international vocational education network that includes Malaysia, Brazil, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and China.
