The Capital Development Authority (CDA) issued a warning notice on Friday directing the removal of a security guards' cabin, a generator, and unauthorised construction at the Islamabad residence of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
The Directorate of Building Control (City) identified the violations as illegal construction in building setbacks, a guard post on CDA land, and a generator on CDA land. The CDA addressed the notice to Amanullah, the son of Muhammad Younis, who is identified as the owner of the building.
The authority gave the owner 15 days from Friday to remove the encroachments. The city manager stated that the occupants must fulfil legal requirements or face action under the CDA Ordinance and Islamabad Capital Territory Building Control Regulations 2020 (amended 2023).
The notice warned that non-compliance could lead to the sealing or demolition of the violations and the initiation of a case to cancel the allotment. Records show the owner submitted an affidavit on 18 March 2019 when receiving a no-objection certificate, promising to remove setback violations within three months and abide by all regulations.
The CDA notice stated, "However, it has been noticed that no compliance is made." Maulana Asjad Mahmood claimed the action was a response to his reports regarding alleged encroachments by a senior military official and described the authorities' methods as underhanded tactics.
Mahmood expressed concern over the "transformation of political differences into personal revenge." Additionally, the authority identified illegal construction at Idara Maarif-e-Islamia, Sharia Rabbaniyah and Tafseerul Quran at House No 3, Street No 6, Sector F-8/3, ordering the administration to remove violations within 15 days.
