Asia Cup 2025: Indian board worried about team selection, starts consultations
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been plagued with trouble over the preparations for the Asia Cup 2025, where team selection has become a major headache.
According to Indian media, the board’s selectors and team management have started consultations, and it is likely that the squad will be announced on August 19 or 20.
Reports state that the fitness report of all players will be obtained before the final roster of the team, and there is a possibility that several players will not be considered.
According to sources, Yashvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan and KL Rahul may miss the Asia Cup, Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson’s inclusion in the team is almost certain.
The selectors are trying to form the strongest Indian squad, but the presence of consistently performing players in the top order has made the decision difficult.
The Asia Cup begins in the UAE from September 9, where India, Pakistan, Oman and the UAE are in Group A.
