Key Takeaways

  • Disney announces the fourth installment of the Cheetah Girls franchise, titled 'The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen'.
  • Raven-Symoné and Adrienne Bailon reprise their roles as Galleria and Chanel.

Disney has officially announced the fourth installment of its beloved Cheetah Girls franchise, titled 'The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen', featuring a return to form with original stars Raven-Symoné and Adrienne Bailon reprising their roles as Galleria and Chanel. The project is set to bring back familiar faces like Sabrina Bryan in a special appearance as Dorinda and Lynn Whitfield and Lori Alter as Dorothea and Juanita, according to Variety.

The new movie will see the original characters alongside a brand-new band of fabulous ladies: Percy Jackson and the Olympians star Leah Sava’ Jeffries, Carmen Sanchez, Kaileen Chang, and Sophie Lennon. The story picks up where the previous films left off, with Cheetah Girls Galleria and Chanel, along with Galleria’s daughter Faith and her three friends, traveling to Africa to volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary.

Raven-Symoné shared on Instagram: 'It's happening, and it's CHEETAHLISHIOUS!'

The first Cheetah Girls film premiered on Disney Channel in 2003, spawning major success for the company and bolstering its presence in the music industry. The sequel, Cheetah Girls 2, which premiered in 2006, still holds a significant place in the charts, spending nine weeks at No. 1 on Top Soundtracks and reaching No. 5 on the Billboard 200.

The third film, 'The Cheetah Girls: One World', arrived two years later but did not feature Raven-Symoné, making her return in this new installment all the more special for fans of the franchise.

With a mix of original and new talent, The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen promises to be an exciting addition to the series. The story focuses on friendship, self-discovery, and the true spirit of being a Cheetah Girl as these four teen girls test their bonds while saving a wildlife sanctuary and taking the stage.

Disney's announcement comes with high hopes for another successful entry in the franchise, potentially bringing back the magic that made the original films so beloved by audiences.
