Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Wiser Minds Education on 27 October at the university’s main campus. Registrar Raja Umer Younis signed the agreement for AIOU, while Dr. Tahir Mahmood represented Wiser Minds Education, a UK-based firm.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Nasir Mahmood attended the ceremony as the chief guest. The two organisations will collaborate on modern training programmes, exchange expertise, and launch initiatives to link academic learning with practical, market-driven skills.
Prof. Dr Nasir Mahmood said, "Our commitment is not just to provide accessible education, but to equip students with practical competencies that enhance their employability. Skilled youth are the future of Pakistan." Dr. Mahmood noted that the collaboration would open international learning pathways for AIOU students.
Dr Naveed Sultana, Dean Faculty of Education, said collaborations are vital to modernise academic programmes as per contemporary and societal needs. Director Centre for Lifelong Learning Dr. Tooba Saleem said the centre is actively working to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional skills, and the new partnership will give students access to international-standard training and global experiences.
