National Savings flags 111 centres as inefficient, mandates cost reduction plans

National Savings identified 111 centres as financially unsustainable and inefficient operations. Regional offices must now prepare strategies to either boost business or increase deposits for these 111 centres.
A benchmark operational cost of Rs. 2,500 per Rs. 1 million in deposits was set for all centres. The institution may close unviable centres and merge them with nearby operational branches.
Regional directorates must submit business and relocation plans within 15 days if they propose moving a centre. Furthermore, the concerned regional office must furnish details of all staff at a closed centre, including their residences and preferred future postings.
