Zong, a technology services enterprise in Pakistan, showcased its network strength and 5G-ready infrastructure during an on-ground Quality of Experience (QoE) assessment conducted by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

The assessment, which included a multi-city survey, featured Islamabad International Airport as a key demonstration site. Zong stated it is the only operator to have deployed a 5G active DAS Indoor Building Solution (IBS) at the airport. The company claims this reflects its investment in advanced connectivity and future-ready infrastructure.

PTA Chairman Major General (Retd.) Hafeez Ur Rehman led the exercise and personally tested mobile internet services and voice call quality. He was joined by senior officials including Member (Finance) Muhammad Naveed, Member (Compliance and Enforcement) Dr. Khawar Siddique Khokhar, Member (Telecom) Muhammad Jahanzeb Rahim, and DG (Enforcement) Brigadier (Retd.) Amer Shahzad. Representatives from the MoITT, media, and Zong leadership also attended.

Three teams conducted parallel assessments across the twin cities to evaluate real-world experiences, including call stability, connectivity, service continuity, and download speeds. The field assessment reinforces Zong’s leading position in PTA’s independently published Q2 2026 QoS Survey and Mobile Network Experience Benchmarking Opensignal Reports.

According to the report, Zong has surpassed 1,000 5G sites nationwide, with more than 275 5G-enabled sites in the twin cities, which is the highest deployment in the industry. The company also holds the industry's highest number of 1,000 sites in the twin cities. Zong uses technologies like Carrier Aggregation to combine spectrum carriers for greater bandwidth and improved network efficiency.

The 5G DAS IBS at Islamabad International Airport is designed to provide seamless indoor connectivity and support a Customer Facilitation Desk for SIM activation and data services. The PTA noted that initial findings reflected Zong’s strong network performance and improvements in service reliability across the surveyed areas.
