Amazon hosted a small event in New York City’s financial district to showcase new Echo hardware. The company announced five new Echo smart speakers and displays, including the Echo Show 16, Echo Time, Alexa Photo Frame, Echo Studio with Home Camera, and a new Echo Dot.
The Echo Time functions as a smart alarm clock, while the Echo Studio with Home Camera can serve as a video calling device for a Fire TV. An exploded version of the Echo Show 16 smart display was featured for demonstration purposes.
Software updates for Echo Show smart displays will introduce dedicated home screens, a meal planning feature, and an interactive 3D map view for smart home control. Amazon updated Alexa Plus with new capabilities to perform deeper research, which Panos Panay said "opened up Alexa Plus’ brain a little bit more".
A new Card interface on Show devices will collect chat history and appear on Alexa.com and in the Alexa app. The company also teased two additional launches from Ring and Echo on the Go.
