The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has launched a large-scale operation against illegal housing schemes and unauthorized commercial properties across Lahore. According to an LDA spokesperson, the enforcement teams from the Directorate of Metropolitan Planning-IV took action against 14 illegal housing schemes in various areas of the city.

Among the targeted projects are Al Kabir Garden, Ammar Avenue, Canal View Farms, Ayan City Phases I and II, Ali Garden, Grand Bazaar, Kashmir Garden, New Nathoki Abadi, Ahmed Garden, Pak Homes, Mughal Homes, Suleman City, Heaven City, Al Hammad Meadows, Royal Villas, and BM Estate (also known as Muhafiz City).

The operation involved the demolition of roads, boundary walls, sewerage systems, and other illegally developed infrastructure. Additionally, site offices were sealed to halt ongoing construction activities.

In a separate but concurrent operation, LDA Town Planning teams sealed 73 properties for illegal commercial use in Gulberg, Faisal Town, New Muslim Town, Samanabad, and Allama Iqbal Town. These included private schools, pharmacies, clinics, grocery stores, cafés, restaurants, food outlets, auto workshops, shops, and offices that were operating in violation of land use regulations.

The actions were carried out under the supervision of Chief Metropolitan Planner and Chief Town Planner-I Asad uz Zaman. The LDA spokesperson stated that these measures are part of a broader effort to maintain order and ensure compliance with city planning laws.

This operation is seen as a significant step towards addressing urban sprawl and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents in Lahore. It highlights the commitment of the LDA to enforce regulations and improve the quality of life for citizens.
