Iqbal calls education, health, and human resource development national emergencies

Professor Ahsan Iqbal called for treating education, health, population, and human resource development as national emergencies. Iqbal stated, "Education is a national emergency; health is a national emergency… So, all of these social sectors need a national emergency."
Improving human development outcomes, the Professor noted, requires administrative reforms, inter-provincial coordination, and long-term planning for Pakistan. Currently, Pakistan's literacy rate stands at 63 per cent.
Furthermore, the nation's population growth rate has risen from 2.4 to 2.55 per cent. To address the issue of centrality, Iqbal suggested establishing effective local governments, creating a third tier of government.
