Government institutions have stepped up scrutiny of JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman's family members and close associates, with the FIA, NAB and Capital Development Authority (CDA) issuing notices in separate inquiries involving alleged financial irregularities, illegal construction and recruitment violations.

On Wednesday, opposition leaders gathered at the Islamabad residence of Maulana Fazlur Rehman. A JUI-F statement released that night confirmed that Mahmood Khan Achakzai, an opposition leader in the National Assembly, and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, an opposition leader in the Senate, were attending the meeting with key PTI leaders. The group met to discuss "the situation of emergency and governor's rule" in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The FIA and the CDA have issued notices to Amanullah, a close associate of the JUI-F chief and the owner of the house where Fazlur Rehman lives in Islamabad.

In a separate development, NAB has summoned former federal minister for communications Asad Mahmood, the son of Fazlur Rehman, regarding alleged irregularities in appointments at the Pakistan Post Office during his tenure in 2022 and 2023. NAB Rawalpindi directed Mahmood to appear before its investigation team on November 10, 2026.

The NAB notice states that while the Establishment Division authorized recruitment for 3,938 posts at the Pakistan Post Office, 4,252 people were allegedly appointed. The inquiry also flagged appointments against 2,646 abolished posts, which were allegedly in violation of cabinet committee directives. NAB maintains that a large number of permanent appointments were made despite recommendations for contractual recruitment through a testing agency, which potentially placed an additional financial burden on the department.
