Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated the electric bus service in Multan, marking a significant step towards sustainable public transportation.

The Chief Minister boarded an electric bus from the e-bus stop established at Agro Mall on Shujaabad Road and travelled to the ceremony venue at Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture.

Upon her arrival, she was greeted with a warm public welcome, with thousands of children, youth, students, and elderly people lining the road to welcome her. Rose petals were showered on her vehicle, and children carried flowers and pictures alongside it.

Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar briefed the gathering on the details of the e-bus project. In the first phase, 45 electric buses will operate in Multan, covering key routes such as Vehari Chowk to Nishtar Hospital, Ghanta Ghar to Ibn-e-Sina Hospital, Dera Adda via DHA, and Women University to the e-Khidmat Centre.

Additional routes include Chungi No. 9 to Nag Shah, NADRA Abad Phatak, Multan Vehari Chowk to Qasim Bela, and Ghanta Ghar to Qadirpur Raan.

The project aims to operate 160 electric buses in different cities and areas of Multan Division, with a total of 205 electric buses planned for the entire division.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif formally launched the e-bus project digitally, emphasizing the importance of sustainable transportation and reducing carbon emissions.

The inauguration ceremony was marked by enthusiastic public support, with the Chief Minister receiving a warm welcome at the venue. The event continued to resonate with slogans in her honour.
