The Suthra Punjab Agency Rawalpindi increased its cleanliness, anti-smog, and anti-dengue campaigns throughout the city and its tehsils during the past week. These efforts aimed to improve sanitation and raise public awareness.

Following directions from the Managing Director of Suthra Punjab Agency Rawalpindi and CEO of Rawalpindi Waste Management Company Rana Sajid Safdar, special operations were conducted in residential areas, markets, commercial centers, and along major roads and streets. The operations involved manual and mechanical sweeping, washing roads, lifting waste, desilting drains, and clearing garbage from vacant plots to reduce environmental pollution.

Field teams from the agency monitored staff attendance, machinery, and waste collection activities to ensure garbage was disposed of on time. Simultaneously, a communication team visited markets and residential areas to urge shopkeepers and citizens to avoid littering, use designated waste points, and prevent water from accumulating to stop dengue breeding.

An anti-littering squad remained active during the period, issuing warnings to individuals caught burning waste or dumping garbage in open spaces. The squad highlighted the negative impacts these actions have on public health and the environment. Under the anti-smog drive, specific attention was paid to clearing dust and waste from green belts, footpaths, and roads.

Rana Sajid Safdar stated that all available resources are being used to improve sanitation in Rawalpindi and its tehsils to align with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He noted that a zero-tolerance policy is being enforced against the burning and open dumping of waste. Safdar added that keeping the area clean is a shared responsibility between the government and the citizens.
