The Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Program has reached a significant milestone by disbursing more than Rs. 100 billion in housing loans. According to figures shared by Khurram Schehzad, Advisor to the Finance Minister, the program provided Rs. 104 billion to 17,697 families as of October 30, 2026. This figure represents a 404 percent increase in loan disbursements since June 2026, when the value stood at Rs. 21 billion.
The program has received a total of 220,715 applications, with 90,405 of those being approved. This results in an approval rate of 41 percent. The total value of these approved loans has reached Rs. 533 billion, a 269 percent growth from the Rs. 144 billion recorded previously.
Launched by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in April of this year, the Apna Ghar Scheme is a nationwide initiative designed to expand affordable housing finance for low and middle income families. The five-year program is backed by a government allocation of Rs. 3.2 trillion and aims to finance the construction of 500,000 homes across Pakistan.
The scheme offers housing loans of up to Rs. 10 million, which are repayable over 20 years. It features a subsidized fixed markup rate of 5 percent for the first 10 years, with market rates applying thereafter. The program covers the purchase and construction of residential properties and is implemented through the House Building Finance Company, as well as participating commercial banks, Islamic banks, and microfinance institutions.
