CDA to Engage Firm for City Branding in Islamabad

CDA to Engage Firm for City Branding in Islamabad

Key Takeaways

  • The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is initiating a process to hire a firm for city branding arrangements.
  • This initiative aims to prepare Islamabad for national celebrations and official ceremonies throughout the year.
  • Selected contractors will be responsible for installing flags, banners, and other decorative materials on key roads and public spaces.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced its intention to hire a firm for city branding arrangements across Islamabad. This move is part of an ongoing effort by the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad’s Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) to ensure that the federal capital is visually prepared for national celebrations, official ceremonies, and high-profile state events.

Under this proposed arrangement, the selected contractor will be tasked with installing various forms of city branding, including flags, banners, decorative structures, welcome displays, and other materials on key roads, public spaces, and important locations in the city. The work is expected to cover national occasions such as Kashmir Solidarity Day, Pakistan Day, Independence Day, Defence Day, and Black Day, as well as visits by foreign heads of state, VVIP delegations, and other significant government events.

According to officials from CDA, this initiative aims to enable a quicker response to official requirements. By maintaining a ready framework for city decoration, the authority can avoid initiating separate procurement exercises for each event. This will ensure uniform branding, timely installation, and consistent presentation of the capital during occasions of national and international significance.

The city branding campaign is expected to enhance Islamabad’s appearance during official visits and public celebrations, reflecting its status as the country's administrative and diplomatic centre. Major roads, intersections, government buildings, and ceremonial routes are likely to be decorated with thematic displays designed to highlight national identity and create a welcoming environment for dignitaries and visitors.

Once the hiring process is completed, the selected firm will carry out branding and decoration assignments on an as-needed basis throughout the contract period. This arrangement will allow CDA and MCI to undertake citywide decoration work for government-directed events without delays, ensuring that Islamabad remains prepared for national commemorations, diplomatic engagements, and other official functions requiring special visual arrangements.

The move is anticipated to streamline the process of city decoration, making it more efficient and effective. By having a ready framework in place, CDA can ensure that the capital maintains its appearance during significant events without facing delays or logistical challenges.
