Vivo has unveiled its latest smartphone series, the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max, during a September event. The launch confirms many of the details that had been leaked over the past weeks, highlighting the company's commitment to innovation in the smartphone market.
Both models are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset, which Vivo and MediaTek jointly developed. This chipset is the first to support LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage, offering significant improvements in performance and storage capabilities.
The X500 Pro features a 6.36-inch display using Q11 luminescent material, developed in collaboration with BOE. The display supports adaptive 144Hz LTPO 8T panel with hardware-level 1-nit minimum brightness, adaptive dimming, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+ support. It also carries SGS low blue light certification for eye protection.
The X500 Pro Max, on the other hand, increases the display size to 6.85 inches while retaining the Q11 panel technology. Vivo describes it as the world’s first Q11 2K Zeiss Master Color Screen. The Pro Max also introduces a custom automatic brightness strategy designed to maintain more consistent colors as surrounding lighting conditions change.
Both models come in black, orange, white, and grey color options, providing users with a variety of choices. The X500 Pro Max, in particular, features a 200MP telephoto camera, making it stand out in the smartphone market.
The cameras on both models are built around new imaging hardware. The X500 Pro uses a BlueTouch 900 sensor for its main camera, which Vivo claims is the first sensor to reach 17EV dynamic range. The sensor is paired with a 50MP Zeiss ultra-dynamic main camera, Vivo’s upgraded VCS 4.0 system, Zeiss T* coating, and deep-absorption blue glass.
For telephoto photography, the X500 Pro Max features a 200MP Zeiss APO super telephoto camera using a BluePrint x Samsung HP0 sensor with a 1/1.4-inch sensor size. The camera supports hardware-level 4x ISZ lossless zoom, making it a significant upgrade over the X500 Pro.
The chipset also includes the NPU 1090, which can run mixture-of-experts AI models containing up to 30 billion parameters directly on the device. This AI processing capability is used for features such as one-click highlight editing on both X500 Pro models.
The Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset contains more than 33 billion transistors and uses a 2+3+3 all-big-core CPU architecture with 34.5MB of cache. MediaTek claims the Dimensity 9600 Pro provides 17% higher single-core performance and 15% better multi-core performance than the previous generation. Peak multi-core power consumption is claimed to be 61% lower.
