Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif established 31 December as the deadline to deploy automated production monitoring systems throughout Pakistan's manufacturing sectors. The government intends to implement every necessary step required to achieve the nation's complete tax potential.

Monitoring systems are already fully operational in the fertiliser, tobacco, cement, sugar, and tiles industries. Installation processes are currently underway for packaged milk, juice, water, and textile industries.

By 15 October, the government expected to finish procuring equipment for the poultry, steel, and tyre sectors. Procurement for leather, paper and board, household electronics, tea, and edible oil and ghee is scheduled for completion by 30 October.

All monitoring systems across these various sectors are expected to be fully functional by the end of this year. Nishat Mills, Alkaram Textile, Alkaram Cotton Mills, JK Spinning Mills, Surti Enterprises, Interloop Ltd, Faisal Spinning Mills, Ibrahim Fibres Ltd, Sapphire Textiles Ltd and Nishat Chunian received praise for following government mandates.

The FBR Transformation Team told participants that enforcement measures have produced an extra Rs1.3 trillion in tax revenue during the last three years. Tax collection rose by 40 per cent over a three-year period because of these enforcement actions.

Shehbaz Sharif instructed the Ministry of Information Technology to conduct an audit on how effective the system is in other industries. Federal ministers Azam Tarar, Musadik Malik, Ahad Cheema and Shaza Fatima were present at the meeting.

State Minister for Finance Bilal Kayani and prime minister’s adviser on industries and production Haroon Akhtar also attended the session.
