The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) has launched the Preferential Trade Access Database (PTAD) at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) head office in Karachi. The joint initiative aims to increase Pakistan's global export footprint by providing stakeholders and trade representatives with structured access intelligence.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday, November 4, the PTAD maps opportunities across 95 countries and covers 29 Preferential Trade Arrangements.
Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of the FPCCI, stated that the PTAD is designed to provide comprehensive information on Pakistan’s preferential market access worldwide. He added that the platform empowers international buyers, manufacturers, importers, and local exporters with actionable trade intelligence to drive export growth and connect Pakistan to global opportunities.
Abdul Karim Memon, Director General of the TDAP, described the launch as an institutional milestone for Pakistan's global market access. He noted that manufacturers and exporters have previously left existing trade agreements underutilized because of a lack of consolidated information. Memon added that by mapping the 29 Preferential Trade Arrangements into a single platform, the business community will be able to maximize tariff advantages and drive sustainable export growth.
Memon anticipated that the PTAD will streamline export decision-making, enhance regulatory compliance, and help Pakistani products compete more effectively across 95 international markets by bridging the information gap.
Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, Senior Vice President of the FPCCI, highlighted that the database provides practical guidance for compliance and clarity for export decisions by detailing Rules of Origin, documentation requirements, and tariff advantages. He noted that users can conduct product searches by description or HS Code to find relevant access pathways.
The event concluded with a shared commitment between the FPCCI and TDAP to continue advancing their joint vision of market access, trade intelligence, and export growth.
